Meat balls "Ballekes" in tomato sauce, a classic and many recipes of its own. This is one of my dad's.

For 4 Batch(es)

Ingredients Toman sauce

2 kg Fresh Tomatoes
1 tin Tomato pieces
Turnip greens/celeriac
1 large Onion
2 large Carrots
1 Pointed bell pepper
Pepper and salt
Laurel and Thyme

600 g Gemengd Gehakt
Zongedroogde tomaatjes
1 Sjalot
Peper en zout

Meat balls in tomato sauce granddad Directions

  1. Cut everything very fine and stew in some butter or olive oil.
  2. Add a box of peeled tomatoes.
  3. Add pepper, salt, bay leaf, thyme and Italian herbs and let it simmer.
  4. Make small balls, season to taste (shallot, dry tomato and mix).
  5. Add the meatballs to the sauce and leave to simmer.
  6. Serve with Belgian Fries.
